The work
Transmission repair, done in the workshop.
Reconditioning puts an automatic transmission back to specification with new materials. It is often much less than fitting a brand new unit, and the car leaves with a 12-month warranty on the reconditioned transmission.

What a rebuild includes
- New friction materials, gaskets and seals
- Torque converter checked and renewed as required
- Solenoids and sensors
- Valve body restored to specification
- Revised parts and software updates where the manufacturer has issued them
- 12-month warranty on the reconditioned transmission
Service it before it fails
Treat the transmission the way you treat engine oil. A workshop service changes the fluid, replaces or cleans the filter or screen, cleans the pan and fits a new gasket. Minor problems are cheaper to catch on a service visit than after the unit has failed.
Follow the interval in the service book, and book sooner if the shifts feel wrong. We service import and domestic automatics.
Signs to call
- A delay before drive or reverse engages
- Flaring or a long slip between gears
- Slipping under load, especially on hills
- A bang or clunk as the car takes up
- A burnt smell from the fluid, or a transmission warning light
Diagnosis, then a price
Drivetrain work can be a clutch adjustment or a major rebuild. Transmission Sydney diagnoses the fault with the workshop computer at no charge, then sends a written estimate. Work starts after you approve it. Call 02 9064 8623 or 0405 399 973.
